What is the RBI Grade B Educational Qualification?

There are specific details regarding RBI Grade B educational qualification aspirants need to be aware of while seeing if they are eligible for the exam or not.

We have listed below all the information related to the eligibility of all the categories.

Graduation Level

    • The candidate should be a graduate in any discipline or have equivalent technical or professional qualification.
    • As a graduate you should have a minimum of 60% marks if belonging to the general, OBC or EWS category. The minimum percentage is 50% for SC/ST/PwBD candidates, if posts are reserved for them.
    • Graduate course refers to any such course from a recognised University / Institute that is taken after Class XII and is at least of 3 years’ duration like BCom, BBA, BLaw, BTech etc.
    • Candidates possessing professional or technical qualifications which are recognised by the Government as equivalent to professional or technical graduation will be eligible for admission to the examination, subject to obtaining minimum marks prescribed above.

Post-Graduation Level

    • If you have done post-graduation then the minimum percentage is 55%  to be considered eligible for the exam and SC/ST/PwBD candidates should have passing marks, if posts are reserved for them.
    • The minimum percentage refers to the aggregate of all semesters/years that you are enrolled in a course for and not only the final year percentage.
    • Post graduate course refers to any such course from a recognised University / Institute that is taken after Graduation and is at least of 2 years’ duration like MBA, MA, MCom etc.
    • Candidates possessing professional or technical qualifications which are recognised by the Government as equivalent to professional or technical post-graduation will be eligible for admission to the examination, subject to obtaining minimum marks prescribed above.

Recognized University Requirement

The candidate must hold a degree of any of the Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be Deemed as a University under Section-3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956.

RBI Grade B CGPA to Percentage Conversion

Some universities do not award a percentage of marks and allot CGPA. In this case if the university has provided a formula to change the CGPA to percentage then the candidate should use that formula to convert their CGPA to percentage since RBI only accepts marks in the form of percentage and not CGPA.

    • Candidates should note that the overall CGPA for the entire course will be considered, ie, all the semester and not any individual or final year CGPA while checking for eligibility.
    • If your CGPA is not on a ten point scale then you should first convert into a 10 point scale and then follow the formula.

If the university/college is not providing any formula, then candidates are advised to follow the below table which has been provided by RBI in their official notification, to be counted towards RBI Grade B qualification

RBI Grade B CGPA Conversion Formula
Equivalent CGPA/OGPA/CPI or similar
terminologies allotted on a 10-point scale
Aggregate
